The Sutherland Shire Chinese Language School was established in 1981. It is a not-for-profit, government-subsidised language school. Our purpose is to teach and promote the Chinese language and culture, especially to children who do not use Chinese as a primary language at home or in school. The focus is on enjoying the experience, in a relaxed environment, using quality and creative teachers, teaching methods and materials.

The syllabus and programs are based on the NSW Department of Education Community Language Programs curriculum with emphasis on small classes, functional language teaching and cultural activities to promote an appreciation and understanding of the Chinese language and culture.

Parental involvement is a vital ingredient in the successful running of the school. An executive committee made up solely of parents of enrolled students administers the school. The library is manned by parent and student volunteers for the benefit of the students.
