Now that Australia has entered into the autumn and winter seasons, the daytime and nighttime temperatures are much different and the weather is very dry. Many children find discomfort in their throats, and they will catch cold much easier than in other seasons. Therefore parents need to be more careful in looking after their children from these aspects as well as in clothing, eating, living and activities.

随着夏令时的结束,澳洲进入了秋季,早晚温差变得更大了,加上这里的气候干燥,很多小朋友都出现了喉咙不适等症状,也更加容易感冒了。因此从衣、食、住、行等方面加强护理,就需要家长们注意了。

Clothing: Due to the big difference in day and night time temperatures, it is recommended children to wear a jacket in the morning and evening. For those who are sporty and sweat easily, please change the wet clothes immediately after sports. It’s better to wear light sports shoes rather than leather shoes in winter.

Eating: Eat lots of food which contains rich Vitamins, particularly in Vitamin A and C which are helpful to prevent upper respiratory tract infections. In autumn and winter, garlic, radish, ginger and fragrant-flowered garlic are good for increasing children’s resistance. Children may not like this kind of food so parents can disguise the taste by adding them to your normal dishes, eg more garlic in stir-frying and use radish or ginger to make soup etc. Fresh pears boiled with water and rock sugar are really good to children who often cough in winter. One more tip, please don’t use medicine as a means to prevent children from getting sick as all medicines are regarded as “poisoning” in certain degrees.

Living: Though the weather is getting cold in winter, please don’t forget to open the windows to maintain good air circulation inside the house. It is also a good idea to frequently sun-dry your children’s bedding.

Activities: Autumn and spring is the best season for outdoor activities. Parents should take their children outdoors more often and spend more time in the sun. Sunlight helps children to absorb calcium which will strengthen their physique.
1) 衣:由于早晚温差较大,在早晨和傍晚都应该给小朋友多加一件衣服。对于好动、易出汗的小朋友,更需及时更换衣服。而鞋子应以轻便的运动鞋为主,少穿皮鞋。
2) 食:多吃一些含维生素丰富的食物,尤其是含维生素A、C 多的食物,它们对预防上呼吸道感染有帮助。在秋季,大蒜、萝卜、生姜、韭菜都是可以增加小朋友抵抗力的食物,可能他们会不喜欢吃,但家长可以通过改变食用方法让小朋友们食用,比如在做菜时增加蒜末的添加,平时多煮点萝卜水、生姜水等。对于常在秋季咳嗽的小朋友,家长则可以多炖些冰糖生梨水给他们吃。另外,是药三分毒,不要把服药作为预防孩子们生病的途径。
3) 住:虽然天气会逐渐变冷,但在家时还是要保证一定时间的开窗通风,保持室内空气的流通。小朋友的被子则需要经常晒太阳。
4) 行:秋天最适合户外运动,家长有时间应多带孩子们到户外活动,多晒太阳,晒太阳可以促进提内钙的吸收,同时也增强他们的体质。

秋季幼儿护理
